Fort Lauderdale Air Show Flies Into Town
Taking place May 5th and 6th in the skies above Fort Lauderdale Beach, the 23rd annual Ford Lauderdale Air Show returns to town.
See some of the nation’s most popular planes from the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Navy soar in the sky in a spectacular display of the planes' capabilities and various pilots' skills including military jet demonstrations, parachute teams, civilian aerobatic acts and formation flight teams from 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm. Enjoy demonstrations from the F18 Super Hornet, C-17 Globemaster Demo, the P-51 Mustang and many others. The Ford Lauderdale Air Show will feature the mighty C-17 Globemaster III from New York's own ANG 105th Airlift Wing, the newest most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force. The Navy’s premier strike fighter, the F/A-18F Super Hornet, also known as the “Rhino” will take to the skies for a return. The wild gray yonder, with its flaming afterburners and streaming contrails, will showcase full capability demonstration. Legend of its time P-51 Mustang Demo by Scott “Scooter” Yoak in “Quicksilver” will showcase the incredible maneuverability and sound from World War II era.
Viewing will be free in the central beach area, from Sunrise Boulevard at State Road A1A, to the south. Premium seating is abundant for photographers, hobbyists, and aviation lovers alike. The Drop Zone Beach section ($29.75 Saturday and Sunday) features everything you need for a hassle-free and memorable viewing experience. Ticket holders will catch all the action from the aerial 50-yard line, beach chair seating, concert quality sound, a complimentary program guide, lunch & beverage including beer and wine. To enjoy more experience upgrade to the Flight Line Club VIP ($169 Saturday and Sunday). Your ticket provides you one VIP Parking pass, catered lunch served from 11:30a to 1:30p with draft beer, soft drinks and water served all day long. Box seating with shade with unobstructed views of the aerial 50-yard line.
There are many options to arriving at the Ford Lauderdale Air Show such as drive, bike, take a cab, Uber or Lyft, or the Brightline train. Parking options include 38 public beach parking lots, garages and metered spaces throughout the beach at various rates from Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, North to Oakland Blvd. Visitors pay $20 for parking at the Galleria Mall and shuttles you to the beach.
Before the air show, come out and meet the air show performers on May 4th out at The Hub on Las Olas and A1A for the Friday Night Sound Waves Concert Series. Featuring Turnstiles - The Ultimate Tribute to the Music of Billy Joel. Enjoy great music and meet the pilots. The Friday Night Sound Waves Concert Series takes place at 300 S Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Visit Air Show displays and exhibits located on State Road A1A north of Sunrise Blvd behind the Drop Zone Beach area featuring simulators, interactive exhibits, and much more from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
