Lake Tahoe - A Summer Playground
Lake Tahoe is one of the worlds most beautiful alpline lakes surrounded by ten thousand foot Sierra mountain ranges in Nevada and Northern California. We live in South Reno, forty five minutes from incline Village and the North Shore Lake and just over hour to South Lake and the iconic casinos that have risen from the blues waters for decades.
We spent a weekend over the summer at Harrah's in South Lake Tahoe and enjoyed a few of the lake's summer attractions. 2017 was one of the most extreme winters in decades for Tahoe and the rest of the west coast. The ski resorts were still open well into July.
We only enjoyed the clear alpine lake this trip. We jet skied day one. The water was glassy and crisp. My daughter and I flew at 50 miles/hour back and forth across the coves and sandy beaches. She got in front and drove for several runs. The weather and water were perfect and we had a blast!
We dined at the Friday Room at the top of Harrah's. The views and service were perfect. Fine dining with majestic backdrops from every table thirty stories above the lake!
We liked the mile high views so much that the next day we went parasailing. They has three height options and we opted for the highest - 500 feet above the lake. It was a thrill. We went first on our boat group and soared high above the boats casinos and coves for fifteen minutes. It was relaxing and invigorating at the same time. The sites were spectacular.
The next weekend we took a whitewater rafting run down the Truckee river. It's a class three, half day run that my daughter (12) and I have done the river three years in a row. We used Irie Rafting and Tahoe Whitewater Tours. It's great for beginners to experienced rafters and another great way enjoy Lake Tahoe during the summer.
